Heavy Duty Racks/Enclosures
Overview
The Heavy Duty electronic equipment Rack/Enclosure provides maximum protection of equipment in a military environment and the section modulus is approximately four times greater than our Medium Duty Extrusion.
Description
- Made from 9000 aluminum extrusion which enables support for the heaviest payloads in a shock and vibration environment
- The Heavy Duty Rack/Enclosure is available in various heights, is 24” wide, and comes in three standard depths
- The bottom panel has four (4) cutouts. One near each corner to facilitate bolting the Rack/Enclosure to a foundation and a full top panel
- The 9000 Series section modulus enables the open frame rack to support a 560-pound payload at 50 Hz and a transmissibility of 2.75 to 1. The Heavy Duty Enclosure has been qualified with a 900 payload at 33 Hz. Both the Rack and Enclosure have been shock qualified IAW MIL-S-901 and IAW MIL-STD-167-1 for vibration
- When the rack is configured as an enclosed cabinet, the inner side to side dimension is 19.12” and may be used as an equipment assembly mounting surface. The inner wall may be used as a plenum wall for circulating air and may be configured with air supply cutouts as required
Additional Criteria
- An X Brace is not required for the Heavy Duty Racks/Enclosures
- A clear area of a three-tenths (.3) inch should be maintained all around the rack for free excursion under potential shock conditions
- If Racks or other Enclosures are adjacent, they should be fastened together at the top using the A & J Enclosure joining assembly. Five eights (.625) inch diameter CRES high strength bolts should be used for mounting the Rack/Enclosure to foundation
